PLA also has a shinier finish and doesn’t warp as much as ABS. It’s a brittle yet strong. Lastly, PLA is usually biodegradable and has no smell, unlike ABS.
PVA, still in its early stages, is a water-soluble thermoplastic. Most commonly, it’s used as a support material. It‘s even more sensitive to heat than PLA but has a similar texture to ABS. One weakness of this 3D printer filament is how sensitive it is to humidity. For this reason, PVA should always be kept in a cool, dry place.
High-End 3D Print Material
Industrial-grade 3D printers use more sophisticated materials enabling the manufacture of more complex products. Stainless steel, for example, comes in powder form and can be infused with bronze. Likewise, silver can be mixed with wax. While 3D printed ceramics powder gets fired and glazed manually to 3D print things like coffee cups.
